I don't mind being limited to a space in order to do this. High quality speakers where I can accurately hear the lows and highs. My use cases for creating music generally do better when I'm able to use multiple midi controllers, sounds, synths that I can dial up at any moment and jump right into creating. not, touchscreen vs fast keyboard shortcuts (I love tabbing and clicking and dragging for precision selection), wanting to have tons and tons of sound vs. The way in which people like to make music are extremely different (wanting to plug things in vs. Even then, who knows, the music we end up making could be very similar! :D Our methods of making music sound very different. This kind of business logic is often why you see companies come out with lite versions of their software for tablets that are way less functional and significantly cheaper. I would expect the crossover between people who actually want to use ableton on a tablet, and people who can afford to pay for it (and therefore justify the cost of porting it) is very very low. There's a lot, lot, lot of little details to be taken care of to switch ableton over to a tablet. Plugins are limited even within the world of PCs and laptops. all of the peripheral stuff that ableton relies on is built for PCs with certain specs and OSs (midi controllers, midi drums, audio interfaces etc.) Not to mention plugins that are built for specific processor speeds. In addition, iPads aren't really as powerful as laptops and PCs, so the overall experience would be worse (worse soundcard, worse processor, worse memory.) You'd have to freeze tracks so often. It's really way way harder than you think to port software from one device to another.
